Leggy Lady

Fall is officially here, which makes me quite sad (I'm still struggling to let go of cheerful floral prints and breezy sundresses), but with chillier weather, there's new reason to accessorize sturdier outfits. One of my favorite fall accessories (perhaps my only favorite fall accessory, come to think of it), are tights. They can transform a look in an instant, never go out of style, keep you warm (very necessary) and make a statement in one fell swoop.

I usually stick with sleek black opaque tights for no-nonsense styling, but am suddenly falling for these seriously flirty (oooh la la!) variations from ASOS:

Bling, Bling.

I stopped into Swarovski's West Coast showroom last week to preview their fabulous fall collection, and I have to say, I'm eager as ever for it to come out now! Much of the collection was dramatic and vibrant--rich jewel tones sparkled brightly and there seemed to be a strong Black Swan motif throughout. I love Swarovski through and through, but my favorite piece of the entire preview was a ridiculously stunning ring that was organic in shape, but dripping with glamour. For me, it's a must.

Also noteworthy? The launch of the Hello Kitty collection--which screams cute! The bedazzled I.D. case is quite possibly the most adorable thing I've laid eyes on in awhile.

Obsession of the Day

Leopard is huge for fall, and I've always got a select few (classy, of course) mainstays of the iconic print in my closet. I wouldn't mind adding this sassy, fierce little guy to my collection:

Boy Meets Girl.

My favorite part about fall? Wearing boots! I'm pretty picky when it comes to my boots, and wouldn't dream of settling on a style that didn't totally thrill me.
I spotted these adorable leather boots on Anthropologie for $238 and love the rugged styling juxtaposed with the cutesy subtle bow on the side. Tres chic for casual autumn look, no?

Leather Love

It's rare that I ever actually start scouting out fall fashion when summer is still most definitely in full swing, but I spotted this amazing leather jacket today at Anthropologie and was suddenly longing for chilly autumn breezes. I tried it on, and realized immediately that I needed to have it. Its paper-thin leather was sumptuous and feminine, the dramatized collar added just enough flair while everything else was streamlined and subtle--no flashy zippers or heavy rock n' roll embellishments. It fit like a dream and that's hard to come by for me and jackets.



I didn't buy it today, because I always like to mull over big purchases and see if it'll go down at all, but I have a New York trip in the works (!!), and I think this is a must-have for my travels. Stay tuned.

Wine, Oh!

I am positively loving this chic fall handbag from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The rich wine color would be a brilliant boost to my typically tonal fall/winter wardrobe, and the hardware is subtly luxe without being obnoxious or weighing it down. Roomy in size without being ridiculous, too.



I think we've got a winner on our hands.

Bon Chic, Bon Genre!

I may be a bit biased, as I am now BCBG's newest hire as of late (copywriting, natch!), but I would highly encourage you to turn your attention to their fall arrivals. Simply sophisticated separates and to-die-for dresses, of course.

The Wrap Boot: Yay or Nay?

Alright, I have an unhealthy obsession with boots, which means I spend considerable time perusing sites looking for interesting ones to potentially add to my already-massive collection. I'm looking for boots that bring a new dimension to my life, that are fierce and wearable and unexpected at the same time. Boots that can dress up skinny jeans and a T-shirt, or tone down a beaded party dress.

These Irregular Choice Wrap Boots ($225) caught my eye, but it's so hard to find the right wrap boot.






Let me explain.

If we were to do dig back into the celeb style archive [of my fashion-obsessed brain], you might remember that Kate Hudson put wrap boots on the map back a few years back when she wore these fabulous (read: wildly expensive) gray button-up versions by Thomas Wylde.


There have been a few variations on the wrap boot since, but few have actually measured up to look as perfectly luxe and casual as Ms. Hudson's.

For instance Tara Subkoff for Easy Spirit's Tall Covered Boots from 2006 didn't quite measure up:



Is it naive of me to think the Irregular Choice boots just might be the ticket?
Or should I just give up on the quest all together...

Cashmere!

The weather is fickle here in L.A.

For example, today was so almost-unbearably-sunny that I wore a jersey sundress and wedge heels all day; two days ago my teeth were literally chattering from standing (or should I say shivering) in the cold whilst mingling at the Burberry party.

Given these odds, an L.A. girl knows the importance of dressing in layers, and nothing is as sumptuous and indulgent as a few lightweight cashmere pieces that will wear well all winter. I stopped by a fashion PR firm this afternoon to check out their latest clients and fell head over heels for a NEW cashmere line called Blaine.







Think: Basics with just enough fashion edge to keep things interesting (pintucked details, glam buttons and subtle ruffles, unexpected hoods)--but in terrific cuts, dreamy colors and super-soft cashmere. Intrigued? You should be.

The line hasn't launched yet, but when it does, I think it'll hit big. After all, the pieces are great and the trio of designers are pretty rockin' people, too.
