Marimekko Madness

Want to spruce up your home this spring? Or looking for a fabulous Mother's Day gift that's far from ordinary? Crate and Barrel is rolling out Marimekko items in a few of their select stores, and the entire collection is online. I've always been a fan of the Finnish line for its poppy patterns and cheerful colors.

I Need This in my Life!

I am absolutely loving this full-on feminine letterpress found on Etsy from Sycamore Street Press. It's sweet, subtly cheeky and pretty as can be. Would look smashing in my apartment...I just might snag it!

Cute Quilt

When it comes to bedding, I'm as picky as can be. When I truly, truly love something (and it's rare that I feel that way), I know it; which may explain why I've stuck with my English rose Cath Kidston duvet cover for years...seriously, years and years now. I know it's about time I trade it in for something fresher and more fun, but haven't quite found anything suitable just yet. Although, the Laelia quilt from Anthropologie is definitely peaking my interest:

Great colors to mix and match with, and just vibrant enough to perk up a simple bedroom, without being so erratic that it unnerves my calm before bedtime.

Barbie House!

Jonathan Adler holds a special place in my heart, thanks to my first job at Real Simple magazine, where I was constantly sourcing 'happy chic' products from his line for our photo shoots. His recently-launched ultra glam, girly limited-edition line for Barbie just topped off my adoration level for his designs:

Must. Have. It. All.

Amy Butler Goes Beyond

Back during my InStyle days, I did an online promotion with Amy Butler Designs, a cute, kitschy emerging line of home goods and stationery. Amy was ecstatic to get any kind of mention at all from InStyle, and I personally thrive on shining a light on new talent.

Just stumbled across her new bedding line for Bed, Bath & Beyond and think it looks great!

Always nice to see a small town designer hit it big!

Marimekko for CB2

Did you know that CB2 (the cooler, hipper sibling of Crate and Barrel) has an exclusive collection compliments of Finnish textile design leader Marimekko? I'm a fan of both brands, so it's no surprise I rather like these modernized floral sheets (currently on sale at CB2.com):

Okay, so it's not pink (which has been a prerequisite for all of my personal home decor); but it is impressively both retro and modern, and the color combination is outrageously unexpected (at least for me) and exciting all at the same time.

And speaking of the eye-popping color combo and print, I happen to rather like this vibrant DKNY Ikat strapless dress ($345 at Net-a-Porter.com), as well:

Say It Isn't So.

Another one bites the dust.

Via a WWD alert e-mail on my Blackberry this morning, I was informed that my beloved Domino Magazine was officially folding. Domino surged through the shelter magazine category bringing fresh, innovative interior ideas and design leaders in the industry to life, led by the impeccably personable editor-in-chief Deborah Needleman.

On a personal note, I first met Needleman when she spoke to my publishing program at Columbia before Domino launched over three years ago, later wrote up the title's launch party of their book this fall at Kelly Wearstler's home, and attended the Domino Bazaar a few months back to further show my adoration for the mag's amazing content and dedicated staff.

Sad day.

Domino Bazaar in L.A.!

Domino is my all-time favorite shelter mag, so I was psyched when their annual Bazaar (basically a giant sample sale sponsored by the 'zine) rolled into L.A. this weekend, and I was comped tickets to check it out.

It was held at home decor mecca, H.D. Buttercup, in Culver City, and offered plenty of cute finds, designer consultations and 'classroom' lectures led by design experts in the field. Plus, any visit to H.D. Buttercup is a worthwhile trip, because that place is ENORMOUS and packed with plenty of pretty inspirations. It always brings me back to a few years ago when I was style assistant for Real Simple back in New York, and would scope out the greatest props for photo shoots. An H.D Buttercup out there would have definitely come in handy!

Here are a few snapshots from my afternoon perusing the Bazaar.
