Jason Wu for Target: My Review

I know yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday for the rest of the world, but for me, I aptly declared it 'TargetWu Sunday' and made it my mission to snag some of the Jason Wu for Target designer collaboration goods for myself.

To be fair, his collection wasn't totally my style when I scoped out the line, but there were a few girly numbers that I thought would work with my wardrobe. All in all, it was a fierce fashion fight (we were out the door at 8AM and hit up five locations) to get my hands on the coveted collection; but my sister and I are persistent, stealth shoppers, and we came out triumphant. Plus, we placed a sizable online order the night before just to ensure we covered our bases.





Did any of you score some Wu? What did you think? The sizes seemed a little off to me, (some ran way too big, some ran a bit small), but nothing a great belt (Lord knows I have plenty of those!) and some hemming (these swingy dresses and skirts are always so long on me!) can't fix. Add some fabulous heels and I'm all set for spring!

Alexandra Moosally at the Soho House

To follow up on my recent post on jewelry designer Alexandra Moosally, I headed over (or rather, darted across the street) to the Soho House for a cocktail party and shopping event for the talented New Yorker. Her pieces were quite pretty in person, delicate and subdued, but save for a few pieces, hard to differentiate from too many other designers. Truth be told, the jewelry category is an overcrowded one, for sure. Price points (even at a friends and family rate) were unfortunately still a bit high, but it's always nice to admire, right?

My pick from the party? A lovely 14kt gold bangle with an open organic pave diamond-encrusted bauble. See party pics below:

Preview: Paper Crown

Have you been eagerly anticipating Lauren Conrad's newest fashion line paper crown? I've got the scoop on the wearable, sophisticated styles designed by the reality star herself. The contemporary collection debuts this fall and can be best described as a collection for those who like to 'play dress up in a grown up world.'

The collection hits stores the first week of August, and will be available at Nordstrom, Ron Herman, Fred Segal and Planet Blue, among several other department stores and specialty boutiques. Paper Crown retails between $59 and $458.

Zimmermann Hits L.A.

Sunny days are here again, Angelenos! Not only is summer about to kick off into full swing any day now, but fabulous Australian line, Zimmermann, known for its fashionable swim and beachy glam apparel (that I am personally obsessed with), has officially opened its doors on Robertson Boulevard.

As the first permanent U.S. retail store, the sun-drenched all-white boutique exudes a tranquil, luxurious energy the moment you step inside. First you'll be greeted by adorable Aussie salesgirls and then you'll magically get swept away by racks brimming full of incredibly cute swimwear, cover-ups, sexy dresses, sweet rompers and so. much. more!

The drool-worthy pieces are everything you've ever wanted in resort wear and the whole line boasts stunningly beautiful feminine prints and patterns designed by Nicky Zimmermann herself. Price points are steep, but with swimwear this gorgeous, sometimes it's worth a splurge, right?

I stopped in this week, mere days after opening, to tour the store and meet Nicky in person. After a glorious walk-through with the genuinely charming and talented designer, I'm more smitten than ever; and can safely conclude that Zimmermann is exactly what L.A. needs.

Bring on the Brights!

This spring, I am loving the bright colors that are everywhere in fashion (and beauty!) My favorite shade? Pink, of course.

I just interviewed Emma Stone last week, and was beyond impressed with her cool girl attitude and drop dead gorgeous beauty in real life. Funny enough, she made it clear that she's really not caught up in fashion and kept it very real, despite looking like a million bucks in every designer gown she tries on.

Last night was no exception as she wore this bright pink Lanvin off-the-shoulder silk-satin cocktail dress at the Costume Institute after-party and wowed the crowd.




Love it!

L.A. Welcomes Vivienne Westwood! And I Hit a Career Milestone.

Just recently, I did the impossible: I interviewed Vivienne Westwood. THE Vivienne Westwood. It was at the opening night of her new Melrose boutique (her first U.S. flagship store, mind you), and I sauntered in quite late, skipping the red carpet entirely. Of course, the ideal scenario would be to speak to the designer herself, but I knew it might be tricky with Westwood.

Plenty of naysayers said it couldn't be done, PR urged me to relax and enjoy the party and other reporters timidly stood back watching from afar. I saw that she was within arm's reach, so I carefully studied the crowd and confidently knew I could snag this interview. I didn't fight tooth and nail, I didn't push my way through crowds and I didn't hound after the designer like an anxious, pushy nimwit. It wasn't hard at all, actually, which tends to be the case for me when given these circumstances. Vivienne was polite and gracious and almost ethereal in this super-human way. She candidly spoke about her admiration for L.A. (who knew?!) and confessed that the stunning, spacious new boutique still needed a lot of work (black ceilings, for starters, she told me!)

The crowd was eccentric (Marilyn Manson, Dita von Teese, Christina Hendricks, Mischa Barton, Anna Kendrick and more), and for the first time, it felt like L.A. finally stepped up their fashion game and went all out.

Matt Bernson in LA!

If ever there was a king of sturdy leather summer sandals, I'd give the crown to designer Matt Bernson. His gladiator sandals hit big a few years back, capturing the attention of celebs like Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Watts. He has since expanded to all types of footwear (booties, wedges, driving mocs and more), and dropped into L.A. last week for a little preview. He seems to cater to girls of all styles now--so whether you're indie or girly, there's something in his line for you. I'm kind of dying over the gold crackle leather wedges that look pretty glam and ultra-comfy.
