Coachella Style

Who's heading to Coachella this year? I'm going for the third year in a row to cover the awesome fashion parties happening all day long and snap some sweet street style pics for all of you. From Mulberry to Lacoste to Burton and Hugo Boss, it seems like a bevy of fashion brands wanted to make their presence known among this hip stylish crowd this year, and I'll be mixing and mingling with the best of them!

Wondering what to wear? I'd recommend boho styles, funky patterns, breezy dresses, crochet anything, worn-in cut-offs, bold colors and free-spirited accessories. As for beauty, keep it simple! Lather on the SPF, wear waterproof everything (if anything!) and work some tousled curls or beachy waves through your hair. Or better yet, pull it back in a top bun or experiment with braids.

A few ideas to get you started:

CROCHET.

Planet Blue dress...would be so fab with turq jewels.

My favorite face SPF! Lightweight, non-greasy and gets the job done!

What's Old is New Again

I made the rounds to a few press previews this week, and couldn't help but notice a huge revival in kitschy retro-inspired pieces. G-Star Raw showed some genius new offerings in all things denim, while KEDS gave us bloggers a fabulous peek at some adorable sneaks and apparel.

(I used to be a KEDS devotee back in elementary school, so I was secretly excited that they've revamped their image and have some things that my adult self would happily kick my heels up in, as well!) My personal pick? Those glammy metallic lace-ups, of course. You know, just in case I feel like wearing flats one of these days.

NYDJ Spring Preview

Quite commonly known as 'mom jeans', the brand Not Your Daughter's Jeans (NYDJ) proved me all wrong at their press preview yesterday morning. Admittedly, I had never actually taken a good look at the line; and yes, there are certainly a number of styles that I'd never wear (at least not in the foreseeable next decade or so), but I was intrigued by the incredible fit technology behind the brand. NYDJ jeans totally suck you in, lift the behind and typically even allow you to go down a size. Sounded good to me!

I took particular interest in the trendy spring colored skinnies, and had a blast with the other bloggers in the crowd as we tried on tons of styles on that we'd never probably be so bold to actually buy in real life. At one point, three of us (Romy Schorr of RomyRaves and Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista) walked out wearing the exact same pair of pants--a light-colored snakeskin ankle jean--and posed for photos, showing how one pair of pants looks on different body types.

In the end, I played it safe with a dark wash skinny jean (and hurrah! I went down TWO sizes!) that I knew I'd get a lot of use out of; but a pretty coral-hued jean on the rack certainly peaked my interest. And with all of that magical fit technology, that might be the wisest way to road test colored skinny jeans this season, yes?

Kate Spade Florence Broadhurst Tour Bus Hits L.A.!

It's certainly no secret that I love Kate Spade. I own way too many of her wallets, handbags, clutches, and jewelry items. I adore the brand's whimsical, fresh, feminine designs (thank you, Deborah Lloyd!), and every accessory that comes out really resonates with me.

When I saw the Florence Broadhurst collaboration this spring, I was especially excited (who doesn't love a bold black and white motif with pops of electric neon?); and coincidentally stumbled upon the tour bus this weekend in Santa Monica! I instructed my friend Michelle to pull over immediately so we could take a peek (okay, and take plenty of cute pics, too!) Check them out:

Spring Jeans

Unless you live under a rock, you're most likely well aware that colored denim is all the rage this season. And not just bolds and brights, but candy-colored pastels, funky artisan patterns, nostalgic florals and more. Everyone from J Brand to Gap is doing some kind of fabulous variation on the trend; and while I was hesitant to embrace at first--I have to say some of the styles I've spied are quite enticing.

Want to spice up your look this spring? I am loving these vibrant neon shades from 7 For All Mankind. And because I'm a girly girl, I couldn't do without posting a pretty pair featuring spring blooms on them too.

Watercolor Brights

I'm having a moment with Halston Heritage right now...the entire line is just my style: simple yet chic, very wearable with a hint of something special. These stunningly vibrant cocktail dresses in deeply-saturated spring shades remind me of watercolor paints; and the relaxed ease and styling of each dress is even more appealing.

Matt Bernson in LA!

If ever there was a king of sturdy leather summer sandals, I'd give the crown to designer Matt Bernson. His gladiator sandals hit big a few years back, capturing the attention of celebs like Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker and Naomi Watts. He has since expanded to all types of footwear (booties, wedges, driving mocs and more), and dropped into L.A. last week for a little preview. He seems to cater to girls of all styles now--so whether you're indie or girly, there's something in his line for you. I'm kind of dying over the gold crackle leather wedges that look pretty glam and ultra-comfy.
