Beauty Junkie

Despite the fact that my bathroom counter is literally spilling over with beauty products of all kinds, I'm always on the lookout for the latest and greatest new products on the market to share with the world. I snapped up Charlotte Ronson's Charm 2xA Blush/Bronzer stick from Sephora in 'Abby' (named after Abby Elliott) and am thrilled with the results. (Note: I've been a fan of the hip designer's beauty line since I first attended her launch party, so I knew taking a gamble on this seemingly smart product most likely wouldn't disappoint.) And, I was right.

It's a genius little duo that quickly contours and brightens the face with a few quick swipes. It's easily transportable, virtually fool-proof and the shades are fantastic on my olive/golden complexion. With summer just around the corner, I know this is one fabulous multi-tasker that will make its way into my summer tote all season long.

Beauty Junkie

When it comes to eye makeup, I have a hard time straying from my usual routine of neutral shadows and black eyeliner (emphasis on the eyeliner!) As an editor, I'm constantly urging readers to experiment with bold colors or fun trends, but truth be told, I'm a scaredy cat myself. I spotted these magnificent liquid liners from Makeup Forever at Sephora last night, and picked up not one, but two! Black (per usual) and the shimmery navy blue. Bold! Exciting! Fresh! I'm going to go for it. And I encourage you to do the same.

Beauty Junkie

I admit it: I had doubts when I heard the claims from Miracle Skin Transformer--even the name sounded far-fetched and too good to be true. This product supposedly hydrates, evens out skin tone, provides flawless coverage and has SPF all in simple, fuss-free lightweight tinted moisturizer?

I was so skeptical I actually neglected it on my bathroom counter for weeks, thinking there's no way it would be able to replace my stable batch of highly-edited foundation formulas I rotate in and out on a daily basis. Boy, was I wrong. This product really does work! I applied a small amount on my face this morning and my skin looks airbrushed, flawless and perfectly even. Not a hint of afternoon shine, and better yet, it also feels light (like I'm not wearing anything at all) and provides a great amount of everyday coverage. I'm amazed already. This just might be the best discovery of the season.

P.S. Dying to get my hands on the concealer next...will report back!

Amazing Face

Recently there's been a shift on my cosmetics counter at home, worthy of discussion. I've scooted aside all of my pricey designer foundations (Giorgio Armani, Dior, LaMer) to make room for my latest obsession: TooFaced Amazing Face Foundation.

This foundation rings in at $36, which isn't cheap, per se, but it's also a heck of a lot more affordable than my other foundation favorites. The formula is incredible--radiant and very natural-looking (and might I add, even anti-aging!) yet full of coverage. It lasts all day (really!) and glides right on.
Truthfully, it really is amazing. Go on and try it for yourself.

Beauty Junkie

I'm a pretty loyal fan of Josie Maran's and her awesome organic products keep getting better and better. Not only do I love her Argan Oil Primer Mist, but her new R.E.M. (Rapid Eye Makeup) Pen has quickly become my new must-have. As a girl on the go, I'm always looking for sleek multi-tasking products that cut down on space in my beauty bag, and this innovative pen does just that. One side has a sponge tip with fabulously-pigmented shadow (I love the Champagne color) and the other end is a liner brush with a tube of Argan Oil gel liner. In one quick swoop, I touch up my eyes without any fuss or icky mess. Plus, there's a color combo for everyone!

Charlotte Ronson + Sephora = Genius

Charlotte Ronson (yes, sister of Sam) has been making headlines for some time, quietly, though, thanks to her successful indie girly fashion lines (in particular, her I Heart Ronson line does well at mass scale for JCPenney), and now the designer darling is expanding to beauty.

Last night I joined the ranks of her gal pals including Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Rashida Jones, Monet Mazur, Drea de Matteo and more to toast her latest expansion with Sephora at an intimate dinner at Il Sole in West Hollywood. The beauty collection features fabulous lip glosses, eyeshadow quads, bronzer, beachy hair spritz and more--and most are named after her famous friends. How's that for a lil name dropping that will surely boost sales?

As for the product line, I have to say, it's definitely got promise. Not only does Charlotte subtly bring Young Hollywood to the masses, but the line is pretty quality too. My 'Nicole' eye shadow quad, for example, is right on the money--pretty earthy browns that are great for everyday. Can't wait to see how this collection fares in the near future.

The Charlotte Ronson beauty collection hits Sephora stores this September.

Ready, Set, Spritz!

Not surprisingly, my favorite part of getting ready in the morning is doing my makeup. From perfectly winged-out eyeliner, ombre-effect shimmer eyeshadow or a glowy sweep of bronzer, the end result is a culmination of a lot of practice, products and passion. So wouldn't it make sense that I'd want my makeup look to stay in tact as long as possible? I've tried a few setting sprays before that I never really preferred, so I always did without. Until now.

Introducing Skindinavia's Moisture Lock Setting Spray (for drier skin types) that not only creates a dewy, smooth, hydrated face, but also extends the staying power of my makeup. Best of all? No creasing or cracking. The brand also has a few different varieties for anti-aging, oil-control, bridal and more!

Girlactik Beauty Event

Wel, darlings, there's a slightly lesser-known beauty brand called Girlactik out there, and I actually haven't heard much about it until I was recently invited to the launch party of their new Karina Smirnoff collection. Now I'm not a big K.S. fan, but the bash was being held at Sweet E's Bakery here in L.A., so naturally, I wasn't about to turn down delectable dessert bites and free makeup, right? Wrong!

This party left me dumbfounded and empty-handed. Not only was there seemingly no PR on site (at least I didn't feel in any way informed about the product launch, nor did I meet Karina or anyone from the brand), but there weren't any samples to take home (no goodie bag? at a beauty event? whaaaat?); and no sweet treats to nibble on while watching people randomly get manicures or blowouts. Mmmm okay.

I don't mean to sound like a spoiled beauty blogger/editor, but it is kind of a cardinal rule that beauty events send you home with at least a small arsenal of samples to play with and write about so you can see what all the fuss is about. But here, not so much. From what I could see, nothing looked uber-fabulous (although maybe it was? I'll just never know because I feel like I know nothing about the line, and still have yet to check out the products), although the loose glitter was quite pretty.

Here's the scene:

Had all the makings to be a super successful girly party, but I emerged slightly confused and even less enthused than when I walked in.
Oh well, try again, Girlactik.

Wonder Liner

MAC just debuted this jumbo eyeliner pen (or shall I call it a marker?) from their 'Wonder Woman' collection, and I'm super curious to test it out. I tend to prefer thinner pens for a more precise line, but MAC tends to know a thing or two when it comes to eyeliner. More importantly, does it have superhero powers like performing for hours on end and refusing to smudge?

If you've tested this one out, please let me know!

Eco Beauty: Josie Maran

To honor Earth Day, several cool eco companies came together for a fabulous shopping event last night at Environment Furniture Showroom. Of all the fabulous vendors, I singled out Josie Maran Cosmetics as my main stop of the evening because a) I'm a die-hard beauty junkie (duh) and b) I've always loved Josie--in past interviews with the model, I always thought she was uber sweet and down-to-earth. Her beauty collection has been getting rave reviews since it launched about four years ago--and for good reason.

Lucky for me, Josie's head educator and make-up artist extraordinaire, Jessica, devoted much of the night transforming my face into a work of art, and attracted quite a crowd with her artful use of colors and out-of-the-box technique with the line. Whereas I normally stay away from vivid colors on my face, Jessica took the initiative to amp up my eyes with exotic peacock colors and gave me a fierce pout with a lip stain that did.not.budge. all night!

I learned a ton about the line, thanks to Jessica's expertise, and now I'm hooked on playing with the eco beauty line that's not only good for the planet, but great at making you feel gorgeous!

Check out a few candids from last night's beauty session:

Beauty Junkie

I am all about mineral makeup these days (the pros of these products are endless!), and my latest rave is Bare Minerals Natural Light Face-Lifting Duo.

Two tones (a peachy neutral and a highlighting off-white) of skin-perfecting powder are packed into this miracle product, and both perform two very different (albeit very important) functions!

Highlight and accentuate contours of your face (underneath the brow bone, down the nose, etc.) with the light shade to add glow and subtle luminosity; diminish dark area and neutralize skin tone with the peachy shade. Plus, I've noticed a soft sweep underneath the eyes helps concealer stay in place.

The results are nothing short of amazing. Loooove!

Coming to a Sephora Near You...

If girly glam is your thing (and I know it's mine!), then you're probably all too familiar with jewelry queen Tarina Tarantino. But now, the line goes beyond Hello Kitty-infused pendants and bedazzled barrettes--TT is rolling out a makeup line that just hit Sephora nationwide. I attended the launch party for the line last week in Hollywood and got doused in shimmer powder shortly after my arrival. (Not complaining!)

Her collection features eyeshadow, eye liner, shimmer powder and spray (for hair or body), lip gloss and more.

Beauty Junkie

On a whim, I decided to check out Dior's Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup SPF 10, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

I was in a bit of a foundation rut (over airbrush; but not completely excited about loose mineral makeup either), and wanted something effortless and easy for the approaching summer. This foundation offers completely weightless, natural-looking coverage (it's practically a tinted moisturizer), but skin looks radiant, fresh and even-toned. Super-important added bonus? The SPF, of course!

Hello, Kitty!

If you love MAC make-up, and you love Hello Kitty, you should obviously hightail it over to a MAC counter ASAP to get your hands on this super cute limited-edition collection.

MAC always has fun collaborations with fashion-forward designers and industry taste makers, but I usually dislike the actual products or colors in these promotional collections, albeit it usually being a great concept.

This time around, I resisted the Hello Kitty/MAC madness for quite some time (a week? maybe two?) before caving at the Robertson store this afternoon.

Much to my pleasant surprise, I found several of the Hello Kitty products to be impressively perfect! Not only were the colors ultra-flattering on me, but the packaging was adorable. Who could resist glitter-flecked compacts? That's what I thought.

Two lip glosses and one blush later, I'm officially addicted to this collection.

Beauty Junkie

Now that it's officially March, I've already stowed away my winter clothes and revamped my beauty routine to celebrate the upcoming sunnier seasons (i.e. Are you wearing SPF daily? You should be!)

I recently picked up Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in 'Sippin n' Dippin' (a pretty coral shimmer) and seriously couldn't be more pleased.
I've relied on Bobbi Brown's Long-Lasting Cream Shadow as an eye base for years now, but was itching to try something new, exciting and fun, that would perform just as well.

The verdict? Pretty much perfect.
Not only did it deliver a gorgeous sheer wash of flattering color, but it really refused to budge all day--creating a flawless canvas for other eye makeup.

Mission accomplished.
