Live from the Red Carpet!

Finally home from a fun-filled day at the Oscars, and had to do a quick re-cap! JCPenney was the title sponsor of the major event, and they hosted a grand experience for us bloggers all day long. From Sephora touch-ups to swag bags, awesome seats and a viewing party at the El Capitan Theater (complete with dinner, popcorn, snacks, photo opps, make-up touch-ups and more), today was certainly unforgettable!

Highlights included seeing Brad and Angelina storm the red carpet in a frenzy, only to stop, turn around and go back through the press line for photos and interviews; shooting a quickie video for JCPenney and eyeing Mario Lopez and cheering him on as he nabbed interviews with Brangelina as if his life depended on it. So funny. (And yes, he is so cute.)

Sitting amongst the fans was definitely a different experience (not exactly in a good way--a sectioned off area would be nice in the future--just in case anyone's asking!), and it was strange to not be working the press line and hustling the red carpet for once, while I spotted many of my reporter colleagues doing exactly that just across the way. All in all, though, the entire day was a blast and I can't thank JCPenney enough for having me today!

Check out these fun pics from the whole experience:

Oscar Sunday

Happy Oscar Sunday lovelies! I've been in a whirlwind the last few days, dashing around town for pre-Oscars festivities (gifting lounges, beauty suites, dinners, etc.)--this is certainly the busiest week of the entire year for Hollywood. While it has been a crazy storm of events, I'm not complaining a bit--it's been undeniably glamorous too! I've been spray-tanned by St. Tropez at the Four Seasons, groomed by the eyebrow queen of Australia, Sharon-Lee, and treated to highlights and a blowout at the posh Rossano Feretti Salon in Beverly Hills. And today? I'm going to the Oscars.

That's right! Thanks to JCPenney, I've been selected as one of the bloggers who will get to catch all of the red carpet action, up close and personal. It's my first time, and it will be an exciting day for sure! I'll be tweeting like mad from the red carpet (follow me @JenniferCChan) and will post photos and videos once it's all said and done. How are you celebrating Hollywood's most glamorous night of the year?

And Since You're Asking...

My picks for Best Dressed last night:

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab: Ethereal, sexy and graceful. I absolutely loved this soft color on her and the lace exuded pure romance.

Halle Berry in Marchesa: You can't go wrong in Marchesa! This was a personal best for Halle, in my opinion. The gorgeous tulle, amazing beadwork and blushy nude color couldn't have complemented this strikingly beautiful woman more.

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein: How to to turn heads as a newbie in Hollywood? Slip on a flawless, simple red dress that shows off your killer body and mega-star confidence, and let everything else speak for itself. Well done, Miss Lawrence!

Here's how the stars got ready.

Golden Girl

Oscars are just around the corner, and I'm particularly excited to watch the gorgeous Anne Hathaway host alongside James Franco. In the promo pic below, the actress looks effortlessly elegant in J. Mendel's Black Silk Jersey Long Sleeve Gown with Detailed Bodice and Column Skirt.

Can't wait to see what she'll be wearing on the red carpet!

Pretty Pretty Princess

Hi lovelies! So, was it just me, or was there a major bridal theme going on at the Oscars tonight?

A little strange, but I, for one, absolutely loved the frothy, fantastic gowns several stylish ladies donned on the red carpet, and was pleasantly surprised by just about every dress I saw on stage.

But my all-time faves from the evening? Sarah Jessica Parker (of course!) and Little Miss Miley Cyrus.

Stunning!

For the Love of SHOES.

I skipped over to The London West Hollywood Hotel yesterday afternoon for yet another fabulous Oscars suite experience, and was immediately enamored with the hotel before I even stepped foot inside of the suite.

Not only is it the home of Gordon Ramsay's famous restaurant, but every inch of the decor is chic, modern and undoubtedly stylish. L.A.'s smattering of trendy hotels range from historical charm (a la Chateau Marmont) to old-school opulence (The Beverly Regent Wilshire), but I never really identified with either style.
I was so impressed with the look of the lobby, I made a mental note that the venue just might fit the bill for my future wedding one day (errr...TBD at a much later date.)

Anyway, I stopped into the Stuart Weitzman suite and checked out the gorgeous display of red carpet collection shoes. Actresses Perrey Reeves and Emanuelle Chiriqui were also there, being outfitted for the weekend, which made for a more entertaining experience.

I happen to own at least ten pairs of Stuart Weitzman shoes myself, so it was a treat to interview the man himself. Despite having just flown in from Spain, the shoe guru (and ping pong advocate!) was exceedingly friendly, warm and incredibly down-to-earth.

Ushering in well over 700 styles a year (!!!) and positioning himself in an extremely comfortable price range of designer shoes (around $300+), it's clear that Weitzman is a man with a plan and who is reaping the benefits of his smart strategy.

As a treat, Weitzman offered chocolates molded in the shape of high heels.

Does he know women well, or what?

The Fabulous Life...

Oscars week reigns on in sunny L.A., and tonight I attended an intimate rooftop cocktail party in Beverly Hills hosted by Nadja Swarovski (yes, as in Swarovski crystals!) It was beyond chilly up there (granted, anything below 65 degrees is officially considered 'freezing' to me), but luckily, there were plenty of pretty sparkly things to admire to distract me from the cold.

Not only were there several stunners on display in the jewelry cases, but Swarovski also commissioned a handful of notable designers (Alexander McQueen, Viktor & Rolf, etc.) to design a Swarovski-inspired ensemble, and the results were breathtaking.

Take a look:

Oh, and you're probably wondering who attended? Here's a quick rundown: Melissa George, Kate Walsh, Angie Harmon, Vivaca A. Fox, Arielle Kebbel, Perrey Reeves, Lady Victoria Hervey (who I also sat a few tables away from today at lunch, random, I know), and a few others...

Frieda Pinto was confirmed but she never showed...bummer.

Ahhh, Spa!

It's Oscar time in L.A. which means there's a jam-packed week of events, gifting suites and spa services rolled out for the stars (okay, okay...and a few lucky editors, VIP industry movers and shakers, etc.!)

I stopped in to West Hollywood's chic Asian-influenced Kinara Spa this morning and I am so glad I did! I was treated to a decadent Bora Bora body scrub, which left my skin feeling renewed, silky and ultra-smooth (seriously!); followed by a wildly impressive St. Tropez Spray Tan.

Now I should interject and say that I've tried many a spray tan, and while they all promise fabulous things (natural color, prolonged results, anti-aging, firming and odorless properties), they don't all live up to their claims. In fact, I'm totally used to walking out of a spray tan looking a little too scary dark, not going out that night and waiting for the next day when I can shower and the color fades a bit so I look normal.

This time, though, I walked out and my color looked amazing! Totally subtle and perfect--just a hint darker than my natural color (granted, I'm already on the tan side), but now with a radiant glow that is far from scary, and a lot closer to spectacular! I've got appointments and events for the rest of the day today, and for once, I won't be worried that my recent spray tan won't cause any questionable stares.

Yay!
