Look of the Day

Looking fierce in a mix of Monika Chiang (blazer and shoes), YSL (bag) and Prabal Gurung (pants), model Elettra Wiedemann showed no mercy on the streets of New York when it came to her standout style. Have to admit, it's an eclectic mix (those pants!), especially in cold weather, but I love a girl who embraces creative freedom to wear whatever the heck she wants. Plus, I just interviewed Elettra, and she was truly so genuine and sweet! We like that.

Gorgeous!

VOGUE China's September cover is not to be missed. Stunningly beautiful models in rich jewel tones against an inky black background. Asian invasion in the very best way.

Posing with Posen

If you've ever met Zac Posen, you'll probably agree with me in that he is incredibly NICE, down to earth and super charming. It's as if he has no clue that he's one of the most major American designers around! I first met him at a taping of America's Next Top Model (yes, really!) as he debuted the first collection of his ZSpoke line with the Top Model contestants showing off his wares. The whole set-up was out of this world awe-inspiring (I was one seat away from Miss Jay Alexander and made it on camera, clapping away at the models before me); but it wasn't until Zac ushered me backstage to personally show me the collection in-person, that my heart stopped beating for just a second.

Here he is at the New Yorker's For Children annual spring gala with model Crystal Renn. Renn, a famed plus-size model, looked tinier than ever and stunned onlookers in a bold Spring 2011 black Z Spoke gown complete with jewelry by Fred Leighton.

What do you think? Is Renn too thin now?

Fabulous Femme: Devon Aoki

As a young girl, I was mesmerized with the fashion industry at an early age, but it was rare to ever see an Asian in the industry. When Benihana's adorable daughter, Devon Aoki,
made headlines as an up-and-coming model in the 90s (despite her tiny stature), I took immediate notice. Her beauty is exotic and extraordinary, and I have followed her career for years.

I was thrilled to chat with her last night at the Gucci party, and found out not only is she so cute in person, but her personality is equally inspiring, as well. Some words from my fave model:

"In anything you do, you’ve just got to go with it, ya know? There’s always going to be people that will tell you, Oh you’re just not the right size or shape, or your look is all wrong, But in modeling, I’ve always been the smallest model, I mean I’m 5’5. I’m tiny! But we can’t let people put you in a box. I just started acting in 2003, so it’s a new journey for me, but you know what, I’m going to grow and pursue it and improve my craft, and see what I can do. It’s not about other outside voices; it’s about your own dream. That’s what really worked for me. Do it with your whole heart and people will recognize it. Really, they’re attracted to it."
