I was roaming down Rodeo Drive today, helping my former style editor make some returns from a recent shoot. It was just like old times when we worked together in New York, only we were now wearing sunglasses, sandals and had a car (in contrast to hauling heavy props around in the snow/sleet/rain and lugging everything onto subways in the city.)
We oogled the luxe items at
Smythson and vowed that one day, when we were uber-affluent, we'd each own a sizable Smythson collection of our own.
For now, though, I only have one item to my name: an iconic fuschia leather notebook, imprinted with "FASHIONISTA" on the front--a truly fabulous gift from my
other former style editor, Andie. (I know, I'm a lucky girl. And I have had worked with some really incredible women--with impeccable taste.)

The notebook is so pretty that I have yet to write in it, and I'm thinking I just might keep it that way.
While we're at it, I should mention that everything in Smythson is drop-dead gorgeous, in a very understated elegant English way. And naturally, everything is also priced quite outrageously. If money were no object, I'd snap up these fabulous investment items in a heartbeat.
