An Afternoon with Reem Acra

In between the moving/painting/unpacking madness of this weekend, I was delighted to spend my Saturday afternoon with designer Reem Acra to preview her Spring 09 collection. The designer showed at New York Fashion Week on Thursday and high-tailed it to LA right after to throw a few parties and meet with editors. Right after her two-day jaunt on the west coast, she's booking it to France and already sketching her next collection. Now that's one busy lady!

Her elegant evening gowns and beautiful bridal collection continually impress; and she's got a mega, mega celebrity following when it comes to dressing for red carpet events. (Her favorite celebrity to date who epitomizes her line? Angelina Jolie.)

Acra was extremely gracious, poised and self-assured throughout our conversation. I fired quizzical question after question at her about the biz, her career, her inspirations and her aspirations; and loved every second of our one-on-one fashion forum.

Oh, and her designs? Absolutely stunning.

Besides being on top of the (fashion) world and seemingly having it all, the immensely successful designer still isn't satisfied.

"What I really want is my own bungalow at The Beverly Hills Hotel!" she laughed.
