Dear Fabulous File...

My boyfriend and I are going to a friend's wedding in Key West next month--any suggestions on what we should wear to a beach wedding????

Dear Nikki,

Absolutely! Wedding season is upon us, and I personally love this season's crop of playful dresses (maxi dresses are making a major comeback!) and summery chic party attire.

For an exotic beach wedding, steer towards sunny muted shades (like coral, aqua or lemon yellow) and choose loose, flowing shapes that are subtly sexy and ultra-comfortable. After all, you're at a beach--so no need to feel too formal. Embrace prints (make sure they aren't not too loud, of course) and channel your inner island girl gone GLAM!

Accessorize with sparkling gold jewelry to spice up any summer dress, and for footwear--avoid heels (imagine sinking in the sand!) and pick a pair of gorgeous gladiator sandals or, if you must add height, opt for chic wedges.

As for your main squeeze, dress him in a pair of preppy khakis, a classic button-down shirt (white linen might be a smart and suave option) and maybe mix in a preppy (plaid? seersucker?) tie.

My bet is that the happy couple opted for a beach wedding because they wanted their special day to be relaxed, romantic, and all together beautiful. Keep that in mind when shopping for their big day, and you'll be surprised with how easy it is to throw together a similarly-resonating ensemble.

Take plenty of pics and have fun! :)
