Moments of Fabulousity: NYFW 2012

When it comes to New York Fashion Week, there's glamour and excitement at every corner. Top editors, A-list celebrities, gorgeous fashion and head-turning beauty make for a compelling week, but sometimes, I've learned, it's the spontaneous, tiny moments of fabulously that make it much more special to me. This season, I missed a lot of the shows because of my travel schedule, but I was able to soak up the scene for a few short days and see some of my favorite people--which is just as good, if not better, than crowding into the shows and surrounding yourself with chaos.

When I got into the city, I headed straight to the Empire Hotel, which is across from Lincoln Center, and where all the action takes place in the form of gifting lounges and events for VIPS and press. I was mindlessly charging my phone (it is always dying) in the lobby, when I heard my name called across the room. Before I knew it, I was whisked away by one of my favorite publicists to visit in her hotel room while she got ready for the ALLURE Beauty Awards.

Amidst the industry gossip and outfit selection process, she generously offered me a few pairs of SoleSociety shoes to take home. (I chose a glittery pair of pumps, and a berry colored suede pair with a bow!) As if that wasn't already fabulous enough, as I was on my way out, she insisted I take a pro makeup trunk (filled with product) from NYX Cosmetics as well. Beauty junkie that I am, I couldn't refuse, and hauled the massive case out of the hotel and all around the city with joy!
"Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world." -Marilyn Monroe. Preach on, sister.

NYX Cosmetics makeup trunk. To think, I transformed a fisherman's tackle box into my makeup trunk in college and now I've got a legit professional one. I think I've officially come full circle.

On a side note, NYX is really coming up in the world---I am a diehard fan of their Hot Pink lipstick (I would describe it in more detail, but the packaging has all worn off since it is on heavy rotation in my beauty bag.)

Anyway, point being--it's these random, fabulously spontaneous moments that make NYFW a thrilling time of the year. Yes the fashion is  and always will be the focus; but for me, I must admit the relationships and energy of the industry inspire me more than anything.

Thanks NYC for an undeniably enjoyable week.
See you next season!
xoxo
