Lessons in Footwear

It's an ongoing joke among my closest friends and family members. I am endlessly poked fun of for the exorbitant amount of nude heels I own; but when it comes to footwear, I hold my head up high. It's become my signature look, and I couldn't be more confident in it.

Sure, you can clutter your closet with colorful, quirky shoes for any mood and the outfit du jour, but why bother, when nude always gets the job done? I'm a heels girl through and through, but even my flip flops, ballet flats and leather foldover ankle booties are nude, too. I'm entirely obsessed with the idea of elongating your legs and firmly believe every woman looks more feminine, confident and classic when there's a nude shoe pulling it all together.

I recently berated my friend (and fellow blogger) Gloria, who was eyeing these wacky floral print wedges online. Not only did I disapprove of the style completely (maybe I called them "Father's Daughter Gone Wrong'), I also guided her through my analysis when it comes to shoe shopping: Select shoes that are versatile, compatible with your lifestyle and reflect your personality. As she was heading off to live in New York for the first time, I knew these funky country wedges were nowhere near the kind of shoe she should be spending money on right now, let alone packing up for her new life navigating the Big Apple. I had to stop this fashion emergency dead in its tracks.

In the end, she quickly dismissed the floral print wedges and wrote about her learned new wisdom from our conversation on her blog, with a post entitled, 'Listen to the Fashion Editor.'
Too cute, right?

And listening to my own advice, I recently scored these Valentino lace D'orsay nude heels on mega sale at Nordstrom online, for a special occasion of any kind. When nude leather, patent or suede just doesn't get the job done, I'll take it up a notch with nude lace topped off with a flirty little designer bow.

Case in point, these lovely heels are versatile, compatible with my lifestyle and very much reflect my personality.
